FAQs

Your art may be one of your most important assets, financially and emotionally. Emergency response is not just reactive, it's also preventative. Crozier's ERS begins with planning for every possible outcome and continues through the response and mitigation process afterward. The decisions we help you make to protect your art in a crisis are guided by experience and expertise. Talk to your Crozier art collection management expert to start planning today.

DVL stands for Declared Value Liability. It protects your artwork against loss or damage during transport or while it's in a Crozier storage facility. DVL is not insurance. Instead, DVL raises the liability to match the artwork’s declared value should loss or damage occur under Crozier’s supervision. Crozier buys insurance to cover its increased liability.

Without DVL, your works are covered under Crozier’s standard limited liability. This is based on the agreement entered into between the Client and Crozier whose terms control. In general, unless otherwise agreed by the Client and Crozier, Crozier’s liability is limited to $0.60 cents per pound as determined by the actual weight of the unwrapped property. This $0.60 cents per pound is in line with industry practice.

DVL offers many benefits. For one, you only pay for coverage when you need it, making DVL a more efficient and cost-effective option than regular fine art insurance. DVL also allows you to declare an “excess” basis to existing insurance for one high-value shipment, temporary storage, or territorial extension, thereby supplementing those plans with maximum cover policies. At its most fundamental, DVL provides peace of mind in knowing that your work is protected at its full value while in Crozier's possession.
